William œBill  D. Thomas, 69, of Wooster died on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at his home.
He was born April 8, 1952 in Cleveland to Walter and Ottelia Brehm Thomas.   On May 1, 1976, he married Ann M. Derr.   She survives.
After working for many years in the engineering and surveying environment, Bill earned his professional surveyor ™s license in 1994.   He worked as a construction inspector and professional surveyor for Engineering Associates for over 45 years.   He was a member of St. Mary ™s Catholic Church.   Some of his favorite activities were gardening and gathering with his friends and family around his fire pit.   He was loved and will be dearly missed by his family and close friends.
Bill served his country in the U.S. Army.
Along with his wife, Bill is survived by his children Ian (Korrina) Thomas of Columbus, Laura (Geoffrey) Long of Oxford and Ellen (Michael) Schaffer of N. Ridgeville.   He was a beloved Popo to Eva Bea Schaffer, Zoe Eowyn Long and Quentin Thomas Schaffer.   He is also survived by one brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 12:00 noon at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster with Rev. Rich Samide presiding.   Inurnment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
Friends will be received two hours prior to the service at the church.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St. Wooster is assisting the family.

  2. Ann, I am truly sorry for your loss. Working with Bill and Dave on the survey crew at EA was the most fun job I ever had. Bill taught me a lot about field work and life. So happy I got to see you both at the Christmas party. Unfortunately we have a family funeral at the same time so I can’t make it to Bill’s.

  3. This loss is a hard one. I loved this grumpy old man and enjoyed working with him everyday. The office just isn’t the same without him. My sincere condolences to his family.

  4. Ann, I don’t have the words to say how sorry we are for you and your family. I still remember, with a smile, all the years ago when you came to stay with Bill when he and I were working out of town. We have had a lot of good times and have come a long way since then. I will greatly miss his friendship. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
