William C. ?Bill? Ports 68, of Fernley Nevada, formerly of Wooster died Saturday Sept. 26, 2009 in the Wooster Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday September 30, 2009 at the Zion Lutheran Church 301 N. Market St. Wooster Ohio 44691 with the Rev. Dr. Alan E. Nathan officiating. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday Sept. 29, 2009 from 6-8 P.M. in the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St. Wooster, Ohio 44691.
He was born December 29, 1940 in Wooster Ohio the son of Milton and Nellie Wedge Ports.
Bill was the retired founder of Ports Petroleum. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served on a number of committees. He helped start the Friends of Fredericksburg Pottery. He was huge lover of animals and especially Great Danes, and was an avid supporter of the food bank at Zion Lutheran Church.
Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years Margaret R. Reed Ports. Children: Michael (Lori) Ports of Wooster, Timothy (Betsy) Ports of Oakland California, and Laura (Greg) Totten of Wooster. Grandchildren: Matt and Meghan Ports, Desmond, Claire, Olivia, and Truman Ports, and Emily and Zach Totten. A sister Anne (Howard) Richard of Hickory North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Adam Ports.
