He served on the Wooster Police Department for 26-1/2 years retiring in
1994 as a Sgt. He also had worked for McIntire, Davis & Greene for 14 years. He had also been employed by Wayne Co.
He was a past president of Wayne Co. R. C. Flyers Club, Life Member of
the F.O.P. and had served on the Wooster Police Department Swat Team.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He had served his country with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his wife, Christine Arnold Hinton, whom he married November 6, 1987; his daughters, Pamela (Fred) Varnes and Bridgett (Jay) Varnes both of Shreve; brothers, Bill Maxine) Hinton of Louisville, Max (Bonnie) Hinton and Sam (Phyllis) Hinton both of Wooster and a sister, June Schaeffer of Ashland; grandchildren Austin James Hinton Varnes AJ, Brennan, Conner, Caden, Lesley and Lyndsey Varnes; and his beloved dog, Diamond.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Richard D. Rick in
1989 and a brother Gene in 1999.
