WOOSTER – Virginia Wolf Gerstenslager, passed away Saturday Aug.23, 2008.
Memorial Services will be held Tuesday Sept. 2, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dr. Alan E. Nathan officiating.
There will be no calling hours, and a private burial will be at the Maple Mound Cemetery in Creston.
Those who wish may contribute to Zion Lutheran Church 301 N. Market St. or to the Salvation Army , Wooster Corps 437 S.Market St. Wooster, Oh., 44691 in her memory.
Arrangments are being handled by the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, Wooster, Oh.
She was born to Charles Timothy and Sophia Irene Barnhard Wolf in Lake Township, Ashland County, near McZena on October 20, 1913.
She graduated from Wooster High School with the class of 1931. After high school she performed secretiaral services at Critchfield and Critchfield Law offices.
After Donald Elliott died, she married Harry Gerstenslager in 1964 at the Old Stone Church in Cleveland. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, but previously had been a member of the McZena Lutheran Church since her birth. She was a charter Member of the ladies Izaac Walton League of Wooster, A charter Member of Lauriate Tau Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority., A Life member of the Wayne County Historical Society, and a former member of the Wayne County Saddle Club. She enjoyed her pretty hats and usually wore one, her grandchildren, her flower garden, and her horses.
She is survived by her step-daughter Ann L. (Richard D.) Kinney of Wooster, Step-Grandson Patrick (Elizabeth) Kinney and step great-granddaughters Hannah and Sarah Kinney of Toledo, Oh., Step-Granddaughter Lee Ann (Timothy) Fead, Step-Great-Grandson Sean Fead, and Step-Great-grand twin daughters Claudia and Giselle Fead all of Denver Colo., and many neices and nephews.
Her Husband Harry died in 1987 and she also was preceded by a brother Clarence Wolf and sisters Lucille Straub, Evelyn Vaughn ,Marie Johnston, and Naomi Spurrier.
