WOOSTER – Evelyn L. CROW, 97, of Wooster passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009 in West View Manor Nursing Home.
She was born December 11, 1911 in Wooster the daughter of Frank and Hannah Miller Messmore.
She was a graduate of Wooster High School and attended the College of Wooster and Kent State University. She taught kindergarten at Wooster Township and Apple Creek. She was the oldest living member of Central Christian Church where she had taught Sunday School, was a member of the Wooster Community Hospital Auxiliary, the Rebekah Lodge, Eastern Star and the Elderberry Band and Chorus. She had also worked at the Wooster Library.
Surviving are daughters, Alicia (Jack) Goodlive of Orrville and Pauline Polly (Bill) Makinen of Amherst; 4 Grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul L. Crow, on February 9, 2007 whom she married May 20, 1934 and by sisters Lorna Houk and Mary Mae Lake.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Central Christian Church on Monday, July 6, 2009 at 11:00 A.M.with the Rev. Kevin Phipps officiating. Private family burial will be held at the Wooster Cemetery.
