WOOSTER – Marvel Jean SCHROCK, 81, of Wooster passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009 in her home.
She was born April 12, 1928 in Sterling, the daughter of Orie M. and Goldie Byler Conrad.
Marvel was a homemaker and had worked for Mast-Lepley Silo for 13 years in the office as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Oak Grove Mennonite Church where she served as church organist, Bible School and a Sunday School Teacher. Marvel volunteered at People to People Ministries and MCC Connections @ Kidron, delivered Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Golden Recliners Camping Club. Marvel loved playing cards with a variety of friends, was an avid gardener and amateur photographer. She and Dean traveled to all 50 states and internationally and had wintered the last 15 years in Pharr, Texas.
Surviving are her husband, Dean R. Schrock, whom she married June 20, 1948; her children, Sandra (Norman) Sohar of Orrville, Kathy (Virgil) Troyer of Honduras, Linda Schrock of Wooster and Richard (Greta) Schrock of Findlay; 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, sisters, Mercie Lehman of Canton and Twila (Chester) Lehman of Smithville.
Marvel was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Eileen Gingerich and a brother Lester Conrad.
Friends will be received at the Oak Grove Mennonite Church, 7843 Smucker Rd., Smithville, OH 44667 on Wednesday evening, December 30, 2009 from 5-8:00 P.M.
Memorial Services will be held at the Church on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Enid Schloneger officiating. Burial for the family will take place prior to the service.
