WOOSTER – Ray Stephen NOBLIT, 85, of Wooster, passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 in his home.
He was born September 11, 1925 in Tiffin, OH, son of Addison and Grace Graumlich Noblit. He married Harriet Nussbaum on April 5, 1947. She survives.
He retired in 1982 after 30 years as the Superintendent of Building and Grounds for the Wooster City Schools. He helped to build the Wooster Mennonite Church of which he was a member. Ray was first and foremost a family man who adored spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved the Lord and spent a lot of time reading the Bible. He was a kind and generous man who spent his life giving to others. He volunteered for his church, habitat for Humanity, The Red Cross, Apple Creek Developmental Center, and many other worthy causes. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.. He served his country with the U.S. Navy as a ship’s cook during WWII. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening..
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Audry Noblit of Phoenix, AZ, Patty (Lloyd) Kilmer of Rittman, Nancy (Jeff) Miller of Massillon, Diane (Keith) Westover of Wooster, Dona (Ken) Martin of Ashland, Lynette (Fred) Miller of Wooster, Phil (Amber) Noblit of Conway, Ark, Norm (Marilyn) Linder of Lancaster, PA, Glen (Claudia) Linder of Portland, OR, Carl Linder, Richard Linder and Clifford (Julie) Linder all of Louisville, OH; 35 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Cora Bour of McCutchenville, OH and a half brother, Cletus Wagner of Rising Sun, OH,
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Lee Linder, a daughter Martha Mottice and a brother Edison Noblit.
Friends will be received at the Wooster Mennonite Church, 1563 Beall Ave., Wooster on Friday, October 1, 2010 from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m.
Services will be held at at the Church on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Phil Noblit officiating. Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Memorial Park Cemetery.
McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
