Philip J. ?Phil? Stillo, 67, of Wooster went to his new home with his savior Jesus Christ on Saturday November 6, 2010 at the Hospice Care Center in Akron after lifelong health problems.
He was born on April 9, 1943 in Wooster, son of the late Salvatore ?Sam? and Evelyn Iannarelli Stillo. On October 3, 1987 he married Donna Nusbaum. She died December 14, 1995 due to Sarcoidosis.
Phil founded the Sarcoidosis Awareness and support group after he discovered several people in his neighborhood had Sarcoidosis. He assisted and reached out to several counties in Northern Ohio to 120 people and assisted Sandra Conway, President of National Resource Sarcoidosis Center in spreading information on this rare disease.
Phil was an avid golfer and loved the Cleveland Indians, classic cars and Burger King.
He leaves behind a brother Arthur (Shannon) Stillo; nephew Sam R. (Gina) Stillo; niece Judy (Tim) Pagniano; great nephews Anthony R., Joshua, Jacob and John; great niece Samantha and a special longtime friend Linda Francis.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Visiting Nurses Hospice and Palliative Care Services in Akron for their care and support the past several weeks.
In accordance with Phil?s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
