WOOSTER – Jane Ann WACHTEL, 68, of West Salem, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 in Glendora Health Care Center.
She was born July 10, 1942 in Chester Twp., Wayne Co., the daughter of Walter L and Ruth C Hartman Ogden. She married Gary L. Wachtel on April 3, 1971. He died June 25, 2010.
She was a graduate of Northwestern High School in 1960 and attended Columbus Business University. Jane retired from Wooster Community Hospital on January 1, 2000 after 30 years in the Payroll Department. She treasured her grandchildren and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She was a member of and then an advisor for the Chester Farmerettes 4-H Club and helped start and was an advisor for the Happy Hopper Rabbit Club.
Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Wachtel of Mansfield and Kelly (Rob) Hjerpe of West Salem; grandchildren, Jake and Jenna Hjerpe; a brother, Dwight (Nancy) Ogden of Wooster, her twin brother, Jim (Georganna) Ogden of Gambier and a sister, Eleanor Cochran of Monroe; numerous nieces & nephews.
In addition to her husband, Jane was preceded by her parents.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Wednesday evening, January 5, 2011 from 6-8:00 pm.
Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 11:00 am with Pastor Paul Bartholomew officiating. Interment will follow in the Reedsburg Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of Glendora Health Care Center and Hospice & Palliative Care for their excellent care and Wayne Health Services for their service.
