WOOSTER – Robert ?Bob? V. MEYER, 87, of Wooster, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011 in his home.
He was born October 29, 1923 in Wooster, son of Herman and Blanche Walter Meyer.
Bob worked as a truck driver for B & F Transfer Company and IML Freight and was a former part time employee of McComas Funeral Home. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and served his country during WWII in the U. S. Army receiving a Purple Heart. Bob was also a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the American Legion Post #497 in Creston.
Surviving are his children Veronica Roni (Fred) Porr, Monica (Lou) Paumier , Mary (Steve) Apple, Chris (Dave) Baumgartner, Jeanette (Ed) Stebbins, and Lori (Scott) Beeman all of Wooster, Tim (Carol) Meyer of Valdosta, GA and Nancy (Dave) Ross of Apple Creek; grandchildren Ken (Michelle) Porr, Doug Porr, Michelle, Melissa and Louis Paumier, Jennifer Zakar, Anne (Justin) Duncan, Angela (Chad) Mullen, Stephen and Jeff Apple, Dan and Matthew Baumgartner, Mark (Patti) Baumgartner, Katee (Jason) Komisky, Adam, Libby, and Charlie Ross, Miles, Nathan, and Olivia Stebbins, Lucas, Jeb, Josiah and Michaela Beeman; 10 great-grandchildren and siblings Jerry (Donna) Meyer, Lee (Doris) Meyer, Joe (Dottie) Meyer, Marcelline (Bob) Trares all of Wooster and Ray (Mary) Meyer of Virginia,
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Catherine R. Kasper Meyer on April 27, 2004 whom he married September 14, 1946, a daughter, Rita Meyer, a grandson Jacob Beeman and a great grandson Sage Porr.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, Wooster, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Wednesday February 2, 2011 from 5-8 PM with a Rosary Service at 4:30 PM
.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday February 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Stephen Moran officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery.
