WOOSTER ? Carmela E. Shields, 93, of Wooster died Sunday, August 14, 2011 in West View Manor Nursing Home.
She was born May 25, 1918 in Wooster, the daughter of Alfino and Paulina Vitullo DiPasqua. She married Edward Shields on July 4, 1942. He died August 17, 1997.
She was a homemaker and had also worked for the former Wooster Preserving Co. and Regal Ware. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Martha?s. She also volunteered at Wooster Community Hospital.
Carmela is survived by her children Katherine Shields, Judith (Rick) Duta and Janet (Dave) Cermely all of Wooster; grandchildren John and Kristin Duta, Jessica, Ryan and Brianna Cermely and a great granddaughter Carmela Duta.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Anthony, Mary Casper and Edith Beck.
A service of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill, Wooster at 11:00 a.m. Deacon Bernie Hosfeld officiating. Friends will be received 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
