SHREVE – Francis Meyer, 81, of Shreve died Sunday, August 28, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday August 30, 2011 at the McInitre, Davis & Greene Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St. Wooster, Ohio 44691 with Rev. Kevin Phipps officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
He was born September 16, 1929 in Medina, Ohio the son of Thomas and Emma Bennett Meyer. In 1950 he married Virginia Simmerman who preceded him in death in 2004.
Francis worked pipeline as a heavy equiptment operator for Bernard prior to his retirement. He had previously worked construction for Wirt and Starn for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He loved raising horses which he had done for many years. He was also very active in the horse racing at the Wayne County Fair.
Surviving are his children: Linda (Ted) Brinker and Nikki Parcell all of Wooster. Step Children: Sonja (David) Tugend of Wooster and Bonnie Mullins of Oklahoma. 7 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Siblings: Ralph Meyer, Jennie Morris, and Pat Jenkins all of Wooster.
Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a daughter: Barbara Meyer, a brother: Bernard Meyer an infant sister Jane Meyer and a grandchild.
