WOOSTER – Ruth Irene LUKE, 89, of Wooster, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the Wayne Co. Care Center.
She was born March 1, 1924 in Kenmore, Ohio, the daughter of Merle and Helen Strauss Cadmus. She married John E. Luke on September 10, 1942. He survives.
Ruth had attended Wooster High School and the Wooster Beauty College, was a homemaker, had worked in the yard goods department at the Wm Annat Co., had worked in quality control at Frito Lay and during the war years, she worked at Goodyear Aircraft. She was the family seamstress, enjoyed collecting antiques, gardening. Ruth was a former member of the First Church of God and a former member of American Legion #68 Auxiliary.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are her children; Jeff (Sandra) Luke, John T. (Carolyn) Luke and Janice Luke all of Wooster; grandchildren, Sean Edward Luke of Columbus, Troy Jonathan Luke of Huntsville, AL, Eric Weedman of Kentucky and Shane (Jeanette) Weedman of California; 1 great-granddaughter, 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dawn Agnes of Wooster and Helen Jeffries of San Francisco.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Wilma Conn and Margaret McBride and a brother Charles Cadmus.
There will be no calling hours or services.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St.,Wooster is assisting the family.
