WOOSTER – Rebecca CRABTREE, 94, of Wooster, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013 at West View Healthy Living..
She was born May 4, 1919 in Charleston, WV, the daughter of Levi A. and Mary A. Godby Carnes.
She retired after 28 years at the Wooster Brush Co. as a machine operator. Rebecca had previously worked for 10 years at the downtown Woolworth Store. She was a member of the West Hill Baptist Church. Rebecca was active in water exercise, enjoyed painting, reading, doing for others, cooking and going to garage sales.
Surviving are her children: Helen (Ken) Walkerly of Wooster, Nancy Jackson of Urichsville, OH and Sarah (Dennis) Traxler of Columbia City, IN: 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren: a daughter-in-law, Maxine Crabtree of Wooster, step-children, Ronnie (Fran) Crabtree of Wooster, Pat (Brady) Pursley of Akron and Glenda Higgins of Garfield, AK.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Crabtree on August 8, 1988, a granddaughter, Jeanna Jackson, step-children, Charles & Damon Crabtree, sisters Martha Cummings, Grace Willard and Virginia Lehman and brothers, Enos, Ben, Herb and Eugene Carnes.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, August 7, 2013 from 6-8:00 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
