WOOSTER “ Martin S. Baskin of Alexandria, Virginia passed away on February 17, 2014 at 11:30 p.m.
He was born March 20, 1934 in Chicago, IL, the son of Theresa and Benson Baskin (deceased) and married his beloved wife, Linda Bromund, on May 15, 2000, who survives.
Also surviving are his two sons from a previous marriage, Daniel B. Baskin of Kiel, Germany and Jeremy M. Baskin (Donna Bergman) of Orinda, CA, a stepson, Ted Bromund of Washington, DC, a stepdaughter Nicola Bromund (M. J. Cavanagh) of Ashburn, VA, grandchildren Robert F. Baskin, Paige E Baskin, Mara F.W. Cavanagh, and a sister, Suzan (Victor) Bernhard of Palisade, CO.
He was a graduate of Harvard College, Class of 1954 and the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, Class of 1961.
He served his country as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, retiring with the rank of captain in June 1994 after 39 years of service.   During his Coast Guard career, his assignments took him to Kodiak, Alaska, Rhodes, Greece and a variety of locations within the continental United States.
He was a member of the Navy League of the U.S., the Military Officers Association, the Reserve Officers Association, the Jewish War Veterans, the Army and Navy Club of Washington, D.C. and the Harvard Club of New York City.
There will be no calling hours or services.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
