WOOSTER – Elizabeth L Stanley Maynard, 58, of Wooster, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday March 21, 2015, surrounded by her loving family and her adored cat Cocoa.
Elizabeth was born in Wooster to Warren 0 Stanley and Sylvia Anne Eastman, on February 6,1957. A graduate of Wooster High School, she worked at Buehler’s in Orrville until diagnosedwith Multiple Sclerosis. For nearly 25 years, she endured a long and courageous battle with thedisease.
Elizabeth was an avid gardener and loved to cook. She was a spirited fan of the Ohio StateBuckeyes, Cavs, and Indians. Liz enjoyed serving on election days, and reminding everyone tovote. She faithfully attended the Wooster United Methodist Church. For Liz, her greatestachievements and deepest joys were her sons, in whom she delighted. She loved to besurrounded by family and friends and keeping in contact with loved ones was very important.Everyone treasured her beautiful smile, contagious giggle, and her omnipresent positive outlook.Elizabeth’s legacy will live on through the numerous people that have been inspired by herstrength and courage in the face of great adversity.
She is survived by her loving father, Warren (Patricia) Stanley. Her sons, Nate (Maggie)Maynard, Noah Morgan, and Nevin (Katie) Morgan. Her stepfather, Rev. Dr. John H (Jack)Visser. Her siblings, Cyndi (Vince) Porter, Michael (Michele) Stanley, Julie Ann (Terry) Jeffers,Wendy (John) Vura, Jeff Gordon, Mickey Gordon, Marianne (Scott) Riegel, Chris (Pam)Stanley, and John E. (Kristy) Visser. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews,aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her mother, Sylvia Anne Eastman Visser. Her godparents,Donald and Phillis Wilson. Grandparents Clyde and Ruby Stanley and Rev. Fred and MildredEastman.
Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mr and Mrs Stanley (Flo) Gault for theirenduring love and support, and Dr. Frank Cebul III for his professional loving care. Wordscannot express the family’s appreciation of all the love and care Elizabeth’s staff gave her overmany years. Grieving with the family are also her loyal caregivers: Mary Jones and AngelaZiegman spending the last 15 years caring for her as if she were family.
Services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in the Wooster United MethodiChurch, 243 N Market Street, Wooster, OH. The Rev. Bill Sowers will be officiating. Friends willbe received immediately following the Service, downstairs in Wesley Hall.
