WOOSTER Lois E. Betty Franks, 98, of Wooster passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at her home.
She was born January 22, 1919 in Wooster, the daughter of Ross O. and Matilda Huebner Warner. She married Elmer Bill Franks on December 5, 1944. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2002.
Betty was a 1936 graduate of Wooster High School. She was a very active fifth generation member of the Oak Chapel United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Valley College Grange and the Lois Club and was a Rosie the Riveter during World War II.
She enjoyed gardening, plants, cooking, and was the buyer for the Grange Dining Hall at the Wayne County Fair.
She is survived by her children, Edward (Susan) Franks and Paul (Rochelle) Franks, both of Columbus, Elizabeth (Ken) Bower and Miriam (Dave) Zech, both of Wooster; grandchildren, James Franks, Kathryn Franks, Alyssa (Dan) Nugent, Angie (Justin) Aikens, Eric (Michelle) Bower, Lisa Renker and Ted Zech; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Abby, Aaron, Zack and Liam.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ross O. Warner, Jr. and a sister, Dorothy J. Franks.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 6-8:00 p.m.
Services will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Chapel United Methodist Church, 4203 W. Old Lincoln Way, Wooster with Reverends Chris Statz and Robin Dillon officiating. Private family burial will be held.
