WOOSTER “ Frances Barr Curtis, 98, of Wooster passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at LifeCare Hospice.
She was born June 28, 1921 in Urbana, the daughter of Harry W., Sr. and Sarah Beckett Scott Barr.   She married Leroy H. Curtis on March 20, 1954.   He preceded her in death on July 31, 2018.
She had taught surgical nursing at the University of Tennessee and then at the Ohio State University.   Frances was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.   Frances was a graduate of Urbana High School, attended the College of Wooster and graduated in 1944 from the Cincinnati College of Nursing and Health with a Bachelor ™s of Nursing Degree and a Masters in Nursing and Education.   She also taught at Massachusetts General Hospital and had been a nursing instructor at Akron University.
She proudly served her country in the Army Nurse Corps during WWII.
Surviving are her children, Lois (John) Immel and Michael (Patricia) Curtis both of Wooster and Steven Curtis of Marshallville; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nephews, Bill (Karen) Barr of Durham, NC, Bob (Margie) Barr of San Diego, CA, Chris Barr of Denver, CO and John (Holly) Barr of Highlands Ranch, CO.; a cousin, Elizabeth Cooper-Martin and her spouse, Mark Gorman of Rockville, MD and special friends, Carol, Don, Tammy, Ruth and JoAnne.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Michael T. Rage in 2017 and siblings, Harry W. Barr, Jr., Lois Barr Miller and David A. Barr.
Friends will be received 1 hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. service on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church, 621 College Ave., Wooster with Rev ™s David, Rice, Jim Watt and Charles Cureton officiating.   Burial will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  1. I loved Fran, she was a wonderful woman. She was a loving grandmother to my kids and great grandkids. She will be missed.

  2. Fran you where one of the best grate grandmother i ever had. besides Adela passing (my other grate grandma) and great grandpa. i realized that i need to enjoy my family while i still have it. but you where a wonderful grandmother and you will be greatly missed # no words devastated
