Christopher Michael Belcher, age 40, of Wooster, passed away Friday evening, March 27, 2020, at Smithville Western Care Center following a long battle with Huntington s disease.
Chris was born in Wooster, Ohio, on December 27, 1979 to the late Timothy and Betsy (Snoddy) Belcher. Chris married his High School sweetheart, and longtime companion, Danielle Berner in a commitment ceremony, on the beach in Key West in 2008.
As a graduate of Wooster High School, Chris excelled in soccer and as the kicker for the football team. Additionally, he played for international soccer and indoor soccer leagues over the course of his young adult life. He had a true love and passion for soccer and always felt as if his teammates were like brothers. Following High School, he attended Kent State University, where he studied Business Management. Chris held many careers as an adult that included real-estate, car sales and information technology.
Always holding his family in the highest regard, Chris remained dedicated to the value of spending quality time with them as often as possible. He was a devoted friend to many, especially his life-long best friends Matt Hulse and Steve Reed. Chris enjoyed many hobbies including fishing and fixing cars with his Dad, riding mountain bikes, listening to music and dancing, and watching sports, particularly Premier League Soccer and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He especially loved entertaining family and friends at his home with Danielle – he always made sure to make people laugh and have a good time.
With a smile and optimism, Chris faced the trials and tribulations of his life bravely.
Chris will be dearly missed by his life-long companion Danielle Berner of Wadsworth, Aunt Cathy and Uncle Steve Shomber of Mount Gilead, Aunt Patrice Trudell of Wooster, numerous Cousins, and friends.
Including his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his Grandmothers; Alice Beverly Cox, and Marilyn Snoddy, his Uncles; Casey Belcher and Mike and Doug Snoddy.
On behalf of the family and Chris, we would like to thank and extend our sympathies to the all the care-givers and staff at Smithville Western Care Center for their kindness and compassion during the final chapter of Chris s life.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
