Virginia Lee (Keener) Brenneman went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and loved ones on April 30, 2020.
She was born on August 1, 1932 in West Salem, OH, the daughter of Russell and Ruth (Ickes) Keener.
Virginia Ginny grew up on a dairy farm, the second daughter of a family of nine. She was assigned to work outside helping her father driving horses to make hay and riding binder for oats and wheat. She pumped gallons of water for the cattle and horses. She was a true farm girl at heart and accredited her farm work and sunshine for her longevity.Ginny graduated Congress High School in 1950 and to the end remembered and often sang the school fight song. She was valedictorian of her class, a cheerleader and acted in plays.After high school she worked at Rubbermaid as Secretary to the President. While at Rubbermaid she met James L. Brenneman. They wed on December 11, 1954 and were happily married for over 44 years. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1999.
Ginny retired from Edgewood Junior High in 1998 where she worked in the cafeteria as a baker. She was famous for the thousands of delicious cookies she baked.She was the beloved mother and best friend to her three children Curtis (Cathy) Brenneman of Canton, Terri Brenneman (Mansfield) and Ramona Brenneman (Macedonia). She will always be in their hearts and deeply missed.
She loved her grandchildren Brandy (Matt) Howard (Canton South) and Ryan (Aimee) Brenneman (Canton) and her 4 great grandchildren, Kylar Howard and Izak, Izzie and Ian Brenneman.She enjoyed bible study, doing jumbles, reading, shopping for shoes, playing tetris on her Gameboy, the Cleveland Indians, Ohio State, the Browns, family vacations, boating, swinging on the porch swing, The Wayne County Fair and babysitting her fur grandbabies.
Ginny was a lifelong member of The First Church of God, first located on 2nd Street in Wooster and then moving to Akron Road. She was a Sunday School teacher for grades 3-4 and the Sunday School Treasurer for many years. She loved her church family especially her TNT Sunday School Class.
Ginny is survived by her three children, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and brothers Karl (Nancy) Keener, Richard (Kay) Keener and Philip (Jean) Keener, sister-in-law Donna Jean Keener, brothers-in-law, Adrian Buchholz and Chet Welty, 21 nieces and nephews, 52 great nieces and nephews and 50 great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband James, her parents, sister s Carol Buchholz, Marilyn Weygandt and Mavis Welty, her brother John Keener, infant brother James Keener, brothers-in-law Harold Weygandt, nephew Richard Weygandt, niece Karla Keener and infant niece, Cynthia Ann Keener.
Private family services will be held.

I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting Virginia, however, she was an amazing neighbor to my sister, Beverly M. I, on behalf of all my siblings, want to say a huge thank you to her and her daughters for how she cared, her patience, and concern for Bev. I know Bev will miss her immensely, and want you to know we offer our deepest sympathy and much gratitude. May she rest in blessed peace.
Virginia will be greatly missed! She was so sweet and always made you feel welcome at her house. Prayers lifted up for peace and understanding during this difficult time. Terri, Ramona, and Curtis – I am so deeply sorry for the loss of your beautiful mother, Virginia. I know how much you all loved her and how much she loved all of you. I feel like I knew her through all the stories Ramona told me about their weekends together, vacations, and daily conversations! There always seemed to be so much affection, love, and humor! I admire the close relationship you had with your mother. You all took such wonderful care of her. She surely knew how much she was loved! May she Rest In Peace.

So very sorry for your loss. I grew up going to First Church of God and Mrs. Brenneman was a sweet lady who always asked how I was doing. As an adult going back for a visit, I could always count on seeing her at church with the same friendly face I’d grown up seeing. Cherish your memories!
We were deeply saddened to learn of Ginny’s death. She has been a good friend ever since high school. It was always a joy to see her and reminisce about school days. She was a sweet, kind lady and we know will be sorely missed. So happy to know she is safe with Jesus and we will see her again one day. We extend our deepest sympathy to the family. Our thoughts and prayers for comfort are with you all.
