Karl R. Keener, 82, of Wooster died on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Ohio s Hospice LifeCare.
He was born November 19, 1938 in Wayne County to Russell and Ruth Ickes Keener. On October 7, 1962, he married Nancy Schmid.
Karl was a farm mechanic for Sterling Farm Equipment for many years before his retirement. He served his country in the National Guard. Karl graduated from Northwestern High School in 1956 and was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, the New Pittsburg Sportsman Club, and a volunteer fireman for New Pittsburg Fire Department. He loved hunting, fishing, four wheeling and watching sports. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed watching his grandchildren s sporting events.
Karl is survived by his wife, Nancy; children Susan Keener of Akron and Gary (Andrea) Keener of New Carlisle; grandchildren Addison, Aubree, Grey and Gibson Keener; brothers Phil (Jean) Keener of West Salem and Richard Keener of Creston; brother in law Carl (Dottie) Schmid of Wooster along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter Cynthia Keener; siblings Carol Buchholz, Marilyn Weygandt, Virginia Brenneman, Mavis Welty, Jane Keener and John Keener.
Friends will be received at the Mohican Church of the Brethren, 7759 Elyria Rd., West Salem on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 12:00-2:00 PM. Masks are required and social distancing will be observed.
Private family services will be held. Interment will be in Fairhaven Cemetery.

We were saddened to hear of Karl’s passing. To us he will always sitting on the bridge at the fair and watching the kids showing their animals.
