Wooster Al Mowrer, 74, has decided it is time to rest. He worked hard, he played hard and gave it all he could give, and then gave some more to keep the circle of life going but now the circle has closed.
Between his years at The Battery House and then The City of Wooster Utilities and Maintenance departments, everyone knew Al and he knew them. The friendships were genuine and true. He always wanted to be the giver and resisted being a taker.
It the past several years he has humbly and gratefully accepted the help of many to navigate through the day-to-day routines and to clear the hurdles thrown in his path. While many have been part of his village, his Best Man, who stood by him at his wedding in 1999, has stood by him each and every day since then. Gordie, your unfailing care and dedication to your friend will never be forgotten.
His oldest brother, two sons and two grandsons survive Al. Most of all, he will forever be missed by his wife Judy, their girls Zhu Zhu, Ditto and his little one, Bailey.
Judy would like to extend her sincere and heartfelt thank you to Michael Moeller who was an integral part of Al s village of help for the last two years. In addition, thank you to the staff at Wooster Community Hospital s ER, Med-Surgical, TCU and In-Patient Rehab departments who have treated Al so many times and got him back home with us. Thank you to Dr. Robert Cebul and Dr, Eric Smith who treated Al as a whole person and who were so responsive to each event. Finally, the staff at the Stanley C. and Flo K. Gault Inpatient Pavilion at LifeCare Hospice who gave him care and dignity to finally allow him to close his circle.
There will be no calling hours or service to respect Al s wishes. A green burial will take place at Foxfield Preserve in Wilmot OH. McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
For those wishing to honor Al s memory through a gift, please consider making a donation to The Wayne County Humane Society, wchs.org, for without their dedication to the homeless animals, he would have never known the love of Zhu Zhu and Ditto.
Life has to end, love does not.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Prayers and thoughts are with you.
First time I met Al, he graciously came up to help my Dad and me build our house on Lee Dr. in 1977. We were always grateful…I also remember how much he liked his Plymouth GTX and we had many exchanges at Leroy’s…Thoughts and prayers to the family.
Dan has many fond memories of Al, many times spent on the golf course and sharing a beer at LeRoys. He always had a smile on his face and ready to share a good laugh.
Thinking of you and your family as you begin the navigate this new chapter of life.
Hugs & much love for you.
Our hearts are saddened to know that you have lost the love of your life. Al could not have found a better partner than he did in you, Judy. You are a strong woman, and will go on bringing support to all that you have a passion for in this life. May the days ahead be filled with happy memories, and peace.
