Margery Wachtel Cliffe died Sunday, August 29, 2021 at the age of 100 from natural causes. She was the daughter of Lydia and Harley Wachtel and married to Jim Cliffe.
Margery is preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her sister Ruby Saltsman and brother Lewis Wachtel.   She is survived by two children: Diane Cliffe Clement( Don) and Beth Cliffe Richardson (Jim) and one grandchild, Matthew. She is the aunt to four nieces and one nephew.
From a young age, Margery was a leader who was spirited, imaginative, and loved to read and write. She loved school and although did not have the opportunity to pursue college she honed her skills and became a manager of Wooster Office Equipment for over 20 years where she developed many lasting relationships with her coworkers. Before starting her career she was a stay-at-home mom who thoroughly enjoyed raising her daughters and became a Girl  Scout Leader for four years. Her youthful nature and humor made her a favorite of her daughters’ friends.
After retiring, she and her husband Jim resided in Wooster and wintered in Ft Myers Fl. until Jim’s death. They were married for 44 years.
Margery’s focus after her husbands’ death was on her beloved church, Trinity United Church of Christ, that she spent over a decade participating in the breakfast program that offers a hot breakfast for those who face food insecurity. She was a member of the women’s guild and held the position of treasurer. In addition, Margery was an active member of Call to Care and facilitated the church’s prayer chain.
Margery had lifelong good health and left the family home at the age of 95 when she relocated to Town Square operated by Westview Healthy Living.   She has made many good friends, participated in a book club, often played the piano entertaining residents, and was selected to represent the residents on the Quality assurance committee.
