Edwin Yund, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at West View Healthy Living. He was born July 14, 1932, the son of Clarence Luther and Iva Ocenia Faber Yund. Upon graduating from Wooster High School in 1950, he and lifetime friends, Jones Alexander, Richard Graham, Harold Redick, and Donnie Varns, dubbed the Killbuck Valley Boys traveled out west. Those memories and friendships remained throughout their entire lives.
He married the love of his life, Shirley Lou Gray, on June 5, 1955, and shared 61 wonderful years together before she passed.
Edwin was a carpenter by trade, but could do just about anything when it came to a build. He was employed by Grant Sheets & Ed Sherck, but decided to work for himself in 1973 until he retired.
Edwin was a member of Central Christian Church for 76 years, a Life Deacon, a Life Trustee, and also served on the Welcome Ministry and cooked at pancake breakfasts. He was also active in the school and community as PTA president, Wooster City School board member and president, Wayne County Schools Career Center school board member, a founding member of the WHS Alumni & Friends, Wooster Parks & Recreation Board Commission, and a member of the Elks Club.
Edwin was one of the good ones; a true gentleman with a heart of gold. He was honest, kind, and led by example. His family was his world and he was our rock. His wisdom & wit will be incredibly missed.
He is survived by his children, Jeffrey D. Yund of Westerville, Michael E. (Suzanne) Yund of Valley City and Carol L. (Jim) Mills of Wooster; his cherished grandchildren, Jennifer (Joe) Conley and James Mills and Michael Zielinski; the apple of his eye, his great granddaughter, Piper Conley; his sister, Lois (Andy) Eggers, countless nieces and nephews that meant so much to him. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shirley; and his sister, Evelyn Yund.
