Wooster “ Clifford Elvan Leighty, 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family Friday, December 17, 2021.   Cliff was born February 3, 1936, in Wooster, Ohio, the son, to George and Ruth (Bahl) Leighty.   He is survived by his wife, Virgina Lee (Wilson) Leighty whom he married on September 4, 1955.
Cliff was a 1954 graduate of Wooster High School and proudly served in the Unites States Army for two years from 1955 to 1957.  
Cliff was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where he previously sang in the choir and taught Junior High, High School, and Kindergarten Sunday School.   Cliff was an auto mechanic and throughout his career, worked for, operated or owned a number of full-service gas stations in Wooster, a career spanning over a half a century.   Leighty Brothers on Pittsburg Ave., Leighty Shell on Winter Street, Leighty Gulf and later Leighty Citgo on Beall Ave.   Cliff retired in 2001, marking an end of an era “ the closing of the last full-service gas station in the area.  
Cliff was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and always put his family first.  
Surviving in addition to his wife, Virginia Ginny, and his children, Craig (Terri) Leighty, Curt (Susan) Leighty, Ginette Liz (Jim) Shields, Chad (Jenny) Leighty; grandchildren, Amanda Rooney, Andrew Leighty, Kathryn Kithcart, Kayla Schmidt, Bethany Kithcart, Alissa Brown, Krista Leighty, Jenna Leighty, Cory Leighty, Chase Leighty and Caitlyn Leighty; fifteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Eunice (Gerald) Yates.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Cory Fredrick Leighty, and his siblings, Robert, Wilford Joe, Gerald Nupp, Daniel, John, Thomas, Richard, Evelyn and Doris Leighty, and Miriam Terman.
Friends will be received from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday December 21, 2021, at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St.  Wooster, OH, (Masks are Optional).
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am with 1 hour of calling prior to the service on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Marty Jacobsen officiating.   Burial will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.

Service
11:00 am with 1 hour of calling prior to the service on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Marty Jacobsen officiating.   Burial will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.

Visitation
