Joe Cook, 46, of Wooster, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Glendora Healthcare Center after a brave and hard-fought battle with an extended illness.

Joe was born on April 1, 1976. He was a graduate of Wooster High School and the Wayne County Schools Career Center majoring in culinary arts. He was awarded a scholarship to Johnson and Wales Culinary Arts Institute. After completing his education, Joe served in the U.S. Navy during Desert Storm.

Joe worked in various restaurants and private clubs and enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He was a diehard Notre Dame football fan, never missing a game.

Joe is survived by his parents, Meredith (Rod) Cosentino and Larry A. Cook, both of Wooster. Joe was very creative, but his greatest creation is his children. Victoria (Davon Jones) of Wooster, Ross of W. Salem, Evan and Kemper of Cambridge. Siblings include, Kristopher (Sandra) of Chaumont, N.Y., Kyle (Michelle) of Alexandria, Va., Trevor (Jeanine) of Spring Grove, Ill., Tim (Nikki) of Wooster and Stacey Spencer (Terry) of Mason. Step brother, Nick Cosentino (Amanda) of Wooster and Adam Cosentino (Molly) of Medina. Many extended family members complete the family he so dearly loved.

Joe was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Betty and Dave McGuire and Albert Krajcik.

Joe requested that there be no services. There will be a family military service to honor his time proudly serving his country. McIntire, Bradham and Sleek Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Joe’s final months were spent helping staff and other residents, sharing, and giving one more grin. Staff and residents alike at Glendora as well as Hospice were loving and supportive allowing Joe to navigate his final journey his way.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the selfless and tireless staff at Hospice and ask that donations be made in Joe’s memory to, Ohio Hospice Lifecare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, Ohio, 44691.

  1. My heartfelt love for my sister and her family. Joey was such a lovely young man. His sweet smiled lit up a room and he always appreciated what people did for him. I will miss my nephew, but I will see him again. My love to my family during this time.

  2. I remember Joe from WCSCC. I always thought he had the best name to be in Culinary Arts! So sorry to hear of his passing. He was a great student there. The world will miss him.

  3. I went to school with Joe but had not seen him in years. In school he always had a smile on his face and willing to listen to give advice. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

  4. Uncle Joe! Uncle Jooeeeee! Uncle Joooooeee! I’m going to miss yelling for you at the top of the stairs. May you find peace in the next chapter, I love you and will see you again Joe. To my family let’s take this time to get together and rejoice in a life well lived, and the legacy of a good man.

  5. I am so saddened by the loss of Joe, my heart and tears go out to you. We became good friends at Glendora, he was such a giving man, always sharing and helping someone. His presence will be missed by so many.
