Betty Louise Emler, 96, of Wooster died on Monday, September 11, 2023 at West View Healthy Living.

She was born October 24, 1926 in Moundsville, WV to Frank and Inez Derrow Carmichael.  On October 16, 1965, she married Earl P. Emler.  He preceded her in death in 2014.

Betty had worked as a book keeper for Smith’s Grocery retiring after 23 years.  She was a member of the Wooster United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing cards with her friends, working on puzzles, crafting and traveling with Earl.

She is survived by her daughter Carolyn (David) Funk of Wooster; step children Randy (Mary Sinco) Emler of TX, Candace Lint of PA and Thomas Emler of Akron; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren ; 3 great great grandchildren and a special niece Jane Carmichael.

Along with Earl, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Sharon Vlcek and brothers Paul Carmichael and Floyd Carmichael.

Private family services will be held with burial in Wooster Cemetery.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  2. Betty was a lovely, warm lady. I worked at West View Healthy Living. She always had a kind word to share and looked her best everyday when I knew her living on Town Square. My condolences to the family. Betty was a gem!

  3. I have fond memories of Grandma Emler. I always looked forward to overnight visits with Grandma and Grandpa – her efforts in creating a warm, welcoming home are to be admired. Rest in Peace Grandma – Love Carrie

    I just heard about your step-mom’s passing. I know she was ready to be done living here on earth. Now she gets to live in heaven, and I am thankful she is not hurting any more. She was an absolutely beautiful lady, and I enjoyed getting to know her (and play cards with her) while she was living at West View Healthy Living. My sympathies to you and your family during this time of loss.

  5. So sorry for your loss. Betty will be missed she was so kind and sweet I loved to talk to her. We talked grandkids and family. She will be sadly missed .
