  1. My heart was saddened to read of the passing of Don. I enjoyed my times with him at the Care Center. The first time we met I knew I had made a new friend. We enjoyed talking about wood and the outdoors. He even sold his Stihl chainsaw to me after I told him I had one and enjoyed cutting wood. I think he thought I needed another one. 🙂 I enjoyed when he would share his artwork with me. I will miss Don.
My sincere sympathy to Carol and the family.

  4. Carol I was so sorry to hear about Don. I really didn’t know him, but we had talked a few times while Dan was at the care center. I know how hard it is to

lose your husband, but I can tell you it does get easier. I’m glad you have your kids to help you. I wished so many times we had had kids when Ted died.

Hang in there and give me a call if you ever want to talk. Maybe we could go to lunch sometime. I like to eat out, but not alone.

  16. Dear Carol and family, we are so sorry for your loss of Don. We loved that my mom Marybelle was your neighbor across the hall for those few years at the Care Center. You and Carol were such fun and special people. We had fun at our end of the hall and had many laughs together! I will miss the times Don and I were able to paint and do art projects together. He developed quite a talent for painting and drawing his trees, barns and tractors. You never know when you will meet a special friend in your life time. Don and Carol you were both a blessing to our families lives. Sending prayers of Peace and our deepest condolences to you and your family.

  19. Don is greatly missed. I miss his smile, quick wit, talking & laughing with him, most of all I’ll miss taking care of him & our banter about what’s better John Deere or Oliver. When I got to work he was one of the ones I looked forward seeing. When he got his bird or tails magazines he would come find me..so excited with that gleam in his eyes. I am greatly saddened by our loss at the care center and your family’s loss. I will also miss carol and seeing the loving care she gave to Don. He loved the fresh fruit and veggies you brought for him. He loved telling us about trips home or outings he went on. He was most proud of his kids, wife (who he said he doesn’t know how he got her, he’s a lucky man) & his family. Much love & prayers.

  21. I built hiking trail (buckeye Trail) along side Don for many years. He was easy to talk to, and was a sight to behold at the end of a hard, hot day of trail building. I thank the President of the BTA, Steve Walker, for informing Don.s friends of his passing.

  22. Don was a steady, friendly, strong presence to work alongside on the Buckeye Trail. We could bask in our love of the outdoors even as we worked hard in the mud and rain. Don was always a friendly face across the campfire, showing the good that was possible if we enjoy this moment, this gathering, this newly built trail. A good old friend.
