David Young, Jr., 80, of Wooster died on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare.

He was born February 13, 1943, in Yellow Rock, KY to David and Ida Reese Young.

David served his country in the U.S. Army.  He was employed with the Oilwell Division US Steel 1963-1984.  In retirement, he started Target Oilfield Pipes and Supplies then ended his career at Central Pump.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

David is survived by his daughters Tracey (Jim) Daugherty and Erika (Tony) Lemmon; grandchildren James (Chelsey) Daugherty, Samantha (Cody) Dudte, Steffani (Kyle) Starkey; Adria and Aley Lemmon; great-grandchildren: Anthony, Harper, Spencer, Riley, Camden “little buddy” and Kennedy; siblings Martha Revel, Shelt Young, Cleve Young, Hubert (Betty) Young, Louise Watson, Marie (Charles) Begley, Nancy (Jerry) Rose, Joe (Judy) Young, Clyde (Patty) Young, Wanda Manious, Mae (Scotty) Pasley, Norma (Austin) Rogers, Hazel (Leon) Worley and Ernie (Samantha) Young; along with a host of nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-law Naomi Young, Marie Young; brothers-in law Paul Watson, Jim Revel; mother of his children Linda Tipton Young and former-in-laws Tracy & Glyndeen “Granny” Tipton.

Friends will be received on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.

Funeral services in Kentucky will be held at a later date.

Contributions may be directed to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

  3. So sorry to hear of “Uncle David’s” passing. I met him at a family reunion I attended with Wayne Young, and so enjoyed meeting and chatting with him and his family.
