John W. Pattie, 79, of Wooster, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023, at his residence.

He was born August 31, 1944, in Chester, PA, the son of William and Laura Shaffer Pattie.

John served his country proudly with the United Sates Marine Corps and earned a Purple Heart while serving in Vietnam. In his younger life, he earned an associates degree in Turf Management from the Ohio State University ATI. Throughout his life he worked in management for several golf courses. John enjoyed golfing and watching football, especially the Philadelphia Eagles. He had a compassionate heart towards animals and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children Scott (Diane) Pattie, Jennifer Pattie, and Aaron Pattie; grandchildren Casey Pattie, Trey Pattie, and several others; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son John Terry Pattie; a former spouse Carol Anne Wyatt; and siblings Bill Pattie and Edward Pattie.

A Service of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 12:00PM at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, with Fr. David Chojnacki officiating. Inurnment with military honors will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH 44273.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the start of the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne County Humane Society, 1161 Mechanicsburg Rd., Wooster, OH 44691 or the Wayne County Dog Shelter, 5694 Burbank Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

  3. It’s heartbreaking 💔 to not have a Father, I’m sorry for everyone’s loss. I pray John rest in peace. May the grace and peace of the Lord be upon all the family during this time.

  6. So sorry to hear about this! I loved going golfing with Le Frog and the guys. Hanging out at the house playing some magic(I was horrible at it) and watching the EAGLES football games…John and Carol were great hosts and had a way of making anyone feel at home and welcomed. I’ll will cherish all the memories of your family! Forever loved and missed, but happy that your reunited with the family in heaven! It was an Honor and a Privilege Le Frog!
