Mattie “Evelyn” Weiser, 91, of Wooster died on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Danbury of Wooster.

She was born February 22, 1932, in Dallas, TX to George T. and Wilda Ogie Funderburgh Shaver.  On August 4, 1951, she married William O. “Bill” Weiser.  He preceded her in death in 2011.

Evelyn graduated from Whitehouse High School in Tyler, TX in May of 1950.  She was a homemaker and later worked for Buckeye Mart/Fisher Big Wheel before retiring in 1985.  Evelyn was a great homemaker who loved cooking and canning.  She also enjoyed crafting, word searches and playing solitaire.  Evelyn was a member of Plain Lutheran Church.  She also belonged to a local mother’s club (when her children were young) and a card club.

She is survived by her children Stephen (Rita) Weiser of West Salem, David (Belinda) Weiser of Wooster, Sharon (Paul) Gray and Keith (Anne) Weiser both of Orrville; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; grandson Robert Lee Weiser; an infant grandson; brother Leonard T. Shaver and a sister Aline Lemley.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11:00 AM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Rob Moskowitz officiating.  Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

  5. My mother, Carolyn Arnold, worked at Buckeye Mart/Fishers Big Wheel with Evelyn, I visited often as a child and she was always such a sweet, kind lady. My mother considered her a great friend. Condolences to your family for your loss.
