Larry Mason “Hoss” Wolford, 75 of Phelps, KY passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023 in Wooster, OH after a long illness.

He was born January 6, 1948 in Williamson, WV the son of Elige and Helen Dotson Wolford.

Larry retired in 2002 as a purchasing agent with 30 years of employment with Chisholm Coal Corporation located in Phelps, KY.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, Brenda Fields Wolford he is survived by his daughter Laurie Ann Wolford of Wooster; son-in-law Gary Allen Cosmo of Wooster; six grandchildren Alexandria Keegan (Kyle David) Rogers, Kaitlyn Breeann (Gentry Thomas) Stephens, Madison Sutter Bryant Niblick, Nicholas Cole Cosmo, Michael Larry Alvin Cosmo, and Chloe Nykole Cosmo all of Wooster; seven great-grandchildren Claire Annalise Rogers, Charlotte Debra Rogers, Amelia Grace Stephens, Benjamin Graham Rogers, August Nicholas Rogers, Genevieve Nykole Stephens, and Kolson Kai Cosmo all of Wooster.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Nykole Cosmo; great grandson Gideon Thomas Stephens.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 12:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Monday, November 13, 2023 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

The family would like to express a special acknowledgment to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare and thank them for the care and support they provided Larry and the family during this most difficult time.

  3. Our thoughts & prayers go out to Larry’s family🙏 I remember our time in school especially being in the band together. Also Larry’s 1965 red GTO & also his black ‘56 Chevy race car. Praying comfort, strength & peace for the family.

  6. My prayers are with You Brenda, Laurie Ann and rest of family. Larry (Hoss) was a good Man. I took care of his grandmother Maddie Dotson at Phelps Nursing Home years ago and the family was always so sweet and kind to me even Helen, you all left a lasting impression on my life. I ask God to comfort You Always and bring you peace. I also just heard about Nykole, heartbreaking 😢💔🫂🙏 Try to stay strong ❤️🙏
