Carl J. Cruise, 87, of Wooster, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born March 8, 1936 in Saltville, VA the son of Calvin and Susie Holmes Cruise. On October 8, 1955, he married Mary Ann Holderman. She preceded him in death in 2020.
Carl served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a meat cutter for Scheck’s IGA for 17 years and then worked security for the OARDC. Carl loved fishing, his dog Chucky, mushroom hunting. Carl enjoyed traveling to Rice Lake in Canada and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children Michael Kelly (Becky) Cruise of Wooster, Gwen (Derek) Lemmon of Chippewa Lake, Clancy Calvin (Sandy) Cruise of Marysville and Matthew Floyd (Tammy) Cruise of Shreve; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mary Ann he is preceded in death by his brothers James “Jay” Cruise, Arthur “Tony” Cruise and Floyd Cruise; sisters Jackie Cowen, Alice Musselman, Athaleen Clark, Evonne Croskey, and Ardith Cruise.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Wooster Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Monday, November 20, 2023 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Grace Church Cradle Roll, 4599 Burbank Rd. Wooster, OH 44691.
