Treva Idell Ewing Croskey, 91, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. She was born at home, near Jeromesville, on April 10, 1932, the daughter of Guy J. and Anna Louise Lawton Ewing. She was a 1950 graduate of Jeromesville High School and a 1954 Kent State University graduate, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Treva enrolled at Kent State intending to study elementary education, but that changed after she took just one accounting course.  She earned her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification in 1976 – one of the few individuals who passed all parts of the CPA exam in a single sitting.  She worked for Campbell-Rose and Company in Wooster for many years, until she left to found Croskey, Hostetler & Mapes, LLP, Certified Public Accountants in 1981.  She retired in 2001. Treva loved to travel and visited all 50 states, as well as numerous foreign countries on all continents except Antarctica.

Treva was active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors for Bank One, Wooster, the Wooster Chamber of Commerce, and the Wooster Community Hospital Foundation.  She also served on the Board of Managers for Bloomington Medical Services and the Board of Trustees for the Wooster City Schools Education Fund of the Greater Wayne County Foundation.  Treva was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta, Quota International of Wooster, the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American Women’s Society of Certified Public Accountants, Ohio Oil and Gas Association, Killbuck Valley Desk & Derrick, and Phi Gamma Nu.

She is survived by her children, Rob (Junko, deceased) Keister, Knoxville, TN; Cindy (Jon) Toth, Rockwood, TN, and Brett (Glenda Wynne) Keister, Hardy, VA; step-children, Holly (Larry) Clark, Millersburg; Mitch (Debbie) Croskey, Manassas, VA; and Jenny (Rex) Miller, Millersburg; 11 grandchildren: Alexis, Courtney, Chase, Nichole, Charity, Celena, Chad, Leah, Calvin, Kyle, and Heather; 13 great-grandchildren, Justice, Willow, Maleya, Mya, Blake, Cadence, Easton, Charlie, Myles, Ava, Ella, Abigail and Madelynn; 2 great, great-grandchildren, Kaya and Hendrix; and two brothers, Alan Ewing of Norwalk and Gail Ewing of San Carlos, CA.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace L. Croskey, her parents, and her sisters Shirley Dillon and Sara Smith.

Cremation has occurred.  A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM, Saturday, January 20, 2024, at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home in Wooster. Friends may call from 2:00-3:30 PM at the funeral home.

  2. We spent many happy times with Treva and Wally when she lived in Wooster. We will always remember her wonderful laugh. Our condolences to the family.

  3. I’m sorry to have missed Treva’s memorial service yesterday, due to medical concerns. She was a caring and patient boss during my time with CHM.
