Paul William Merreot, 91, of Creston, went to his Heavenly home on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Smithville Western Care Center Wooster, OH.

Paul was born on October 11, 1932 in Shreve, OH to Paul L. and Lucille (Sparr) Merreot. Paul married the love of his life Jean Moser on December 7, 1951 at Christian Missionary Alliance church in Orrville.

Paul was part of the Orrville class of 1950 and enjoyed lunch reunions with his fellow classmates. He was a past member of the North Lawrence Volunteer Fire Department. Paul was owner and founder of Merreot Plumbing, a small plumbing company that did everything. Paul had a quick wit and loved to tell everyone he met a joke or two. At the age of 80 he moved to a farm in Creston, he enjoyed working with the animals and especially the Great Pyrenees guardian dogs. Paul was always working on multiple projects and joked he would need to live to age 200 to get everything completed.

Survivors include his wife Jean, daughters Renee Landers-Wimer (Gary Wimer) of Creston, Denise Canterbury (Richard Canterbury) of Dalton. Grandchildren Dr. Lisa Landers of Chicago, IL. Matthew Landers, of Wooster, Nicole Landers (Dr. Timothy McAfoos) of Parker CO. Katie Canterbury Brown (Monty Brown) of Altus, OK. Cameron Story of Canton, Dustin Canterbury of Dalton. Seven Great Grandchildren, and numerous caring nieces and nephews. Two honorary sons, Glenn Millar of North Lawrence and Bernie Hodgson of Canton.

Predeceased by parents, step father Roy Cliff, sisters and brother in laws Evelyn (Ralph) Nolletti, Elizabeth (Glenn) Flickinger, Marylou (Robert) Miller, June (Elmer) Heather, brothers Fred (Julia) Merreot, Stanley Merreot. Brother-in-law Don Moser and sister-in-law Susan Oswalt.

Paul was an active member of Crossroads Assembly of God Church Creston.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday November 28, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Crossroads Assembly of God Church,10220 Wooster Pike, Creston, OH 44217 with Pastor Mike Boggs officiating.

Private burial will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, OH.

  1. My sympathy to you and your family on your loss, Jean. Through our high school class reunions, his name became familiar to me. I have called Marian E, Hostetler, who also lives here at Greencroft Goshen, and was one of Paul’s high school classmates.
