Shirley Mae Shutt (Hardesty) 83 of Perrysville, passed on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

She was born on June 5, 1940 in Fresno, Ohio to the late Telford and Mammie (Eaton) Hardesty.  On October 26, 1958 she married Ronald G. Shutt in Coshocton.

Shirley worked at Wooster City Schools for 25 years in the kitchen and was a member of the First Church of God in Wooster.

She is survived by her sons Rick Shutt of Perrysville, Bob (Christie) Shutt and James (Sheri) Shutt both of Wooster; grandchildren Tom Shutt, Brandy (Robby) Gonzalez, Stephen (Jessica) Shutt, Cody (Megan) Shutt, Joshua Shutt, Tiffany (Marcus) Glassford, Jeremy Shutt and Jason Shutt; great-grandchildren Addisyn, Connor, Madelynn and Maximus; sisters-in-law Betty Shutt and Marsha Hardesty; and brother-in-law Tom (Barb) Shutt.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, brother Clarence who passed on 12/08/2020, brothers in law Carl Shutt and Wayne Shutt and great granddaughter Everleigh Shutt.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Arnie Kaufman officiating.  Burial will follow in New Pittsburg Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

  1. Rick, Bob and James families, I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. She was one special lady with a heart so big and so caring and her family meant everything to her along with her love of her heavenly Father All of you are in my prayers that God will give you all the peace and comfort that only he can give at this very difficult time. Keep all the memories and good times close to your heart.

  2. My heartfelt sympathy to Ricky, Jimmy and Bobby. Shirley and my Mom – Virginia Brenneman – became friends while working at Edgewood Junior High in the kitchen. Shirley would stop at my Mom’s house before work and have coffee and a chat. These visits continued even after both had retired. Shirley was like an Aunt to me and I am shocked and saddened by her loss. My prayers for the family.

  3. Bobby,Ricky was my class mates at Wooster high school. I meant Shirley when I was in school and she was so very nice and smiling was a welcome smile.
    I’m sorry 🙏 for your lost lost guys. Losing my mother in March 2023 and still feel like yesterday. Just trust God to guide you through this process. Love your class mate. LINDA BRENNEMAN SMITH.

  4. Rick and family. I am so sorry for your loss. I will miss my Wed breakfast buddy. She was a wonderful woman. Still have the sweaters she gave me so I could keep warm at work. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  5. Shirley was my classmate at Plainfield High School. She always came to the school reunions and looked forward to seeing her every year. She will definitely be missed. Also, will miss her many phone calls, too. Many sympathies to her family!
