Mary Lou Wade, 82, of Apple Creek died on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born March 24, 1941 in Warsaw to Paul and Gladys Manson Mackey.  On June 30 1961, she married James “Jim” Wade.  He survives.

Mary Lou was the owner and operator of The Finishing Touch Salon from 1981-2000.  She was a member of the Apple Creek United Methodist Church where she taught Bible School for several years and also served on the Funeral Committee and the Meal Committee.  Mary Lou was also very involved with the Apple Creek schools where she volunteered on PTO committees, was a room mother, had been secretary and president of the kindergarten mothers and active with the Waynedale High School music parents.  She was awarded the Apple Creek PTO Citizen of the Year award for all of her hard work.  Mary Lou attended numerous activities that her children and grandchildren were involved in.  She was known for her extensive flower beds where she grew sunflowers, Gerber daisies, day lilies and gladiolas.  Mary Lou belonged to the Apple Creek Garden Club.

Along with her husband, Jim, Mary Lou is survived by her children Mike (Jo) Wade of Hayesville, Marty (Mary Ellen) Wade of Gainesville, VA, Matt (Glenda) Wade of Wooster; son-in-law Doug Green of Wooster; grandchildren Joe (Kat) Wade, Shae (Joe) Mast, Jeff (Jen) Wade, Connor Wade, Hannah Wade, Josh (Ashley) Leiner, Jordan Leiner, Alex Green, Rebecca Green, Mady Green, Zach (Starr) Wade, Faith Wade, Brian Wade and Ethan Wade; 6 great grandchildren; numerous foster grandchildren; sister Cyndy (Bob) Maglio of Orrville; half brother Scott Patterson (Brenda) of Sugarcreek and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Connie Green; sisters Carol Putnam, Linda Davison, Marilyn Badertscher; brother Paul Mackey and a half sister Paula Dodd.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastors Kenn Curren and Jennifer Darling-Mellott officiating.  Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

    Our heartfelt condolences go out to you. Mary Lou was the perfect neighbor, always friendly, always willing to share her treasure of flowers. We will miss seeing her out working in her gardens. May God give you comfort and peace.
