Richard “Dick” E. Hartman, 93, of Wooster passed away December 18, 2023 at WestView Healthy Living.

He was born on November 22, 1930 in Wooster the son of Ashley and Mildred Butler Hartman.  On July 31, 1953, he married Shirley J. Odenkirk. They celebrated 70 years this year.  She survives.

Dick served his country in the United States AirForce.  Dick started his career as a distributor for Standard Oil for many years before becoming owner of Snoddy Mower Center for 20 years and had also worked for Hartman’s Farmers Market.  Dick enjoyed sudoku puzzles, fishing, flea markets, collecting items, sports, cutting firewood, mowing the grass, and being outdoors. He loved sitting in the garage talking with neighbors and going to his grandchildren and great grandchildren sporting events.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Pamela (Frank) Meshew, Nancy (Ron) Sands, Rick (Sandy) Hartman, Tom Hartman all of Wooster; Andy ( Mindy) Hartman of Apple Creek; grandchildren Matt Meshew, Bryon (Sarah) Meshew, Beth (Jason) Gerber, Todd Sands, Melanie (Jay) Mowrer, Megan (Zach) Jolly, Kyle Hartman, Ty (Tonya) Hartman, Marissa (Robbie) Wilson, Stephanie Brenneman, and Chantel Meshew; great-grandchildren Aeron, Addyson, Izabel and Izzak Meshew, Hayden and Harper Gerber, Eliana and Alethea Sands, Madeline, Jeret and Clay Mowrer; Julia, Emma, Dani and Aria Jolly, Easton and Bostyn Hartman, Blakely and Navy Wilson; sisters Jo Anne Jolliff and Doris Snoddy both of Wooster; brother-in-law Richard (Ruth Ann) Odenkirk of Wooster.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and infant child.

A private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  18. To the family our prayers are with . Mr Hartman when he had his mower business I use to deliver parts to him from Hopkins and Kipp. Always a cheerful man. God bless
