Wendell Gene Haven, 72, of Wooster died on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at his home.

He was born June 13, 1951 in Wooster to Wendell and Stella Croskey Haven.  On Sweetest Day, October 18, 1984, he married Judith Schmidt.  She survives.

Wendell retired from Rayco Manufacturing where he been a welder and a maintenance technician.  He was a member of First Baptist Church and liked to listen to country music, watch westerns and zombie movies and spending time with his family and his pupper Baillie.

Along with his wife, Judi, he is survived by his son Marc (Traci) Haven of Wooster; daughters Michelle and Laura; grandchildren Michael Haven, Shea Briggs and Keeley Haven; great grandchildren Kayden Briggs and Miles Briggs; sister-in-law Nancy Haven of La Center, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gerald Haven.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 246 N. Market St., Wooster

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

The family requests that In lieu of flowers contributions be directed to the funeral home to help defray expenses.

  1. I have fond memories of Gene. We grew up together. Reading 10 cent comic books, playing pool, listening to shortwave radio, and bringing in the New Year together.
