Lincoln P. Oviatt, 95, of Wooster died on Friday, December 29, 2023.

He was born on May 18, 1928 in Hudson to Fayette Lincoln and Beatrice Johnson Oviatt.  He was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and the Ohio State University Law School.  Lincoln served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Lincoln practiced law at Critchfield, Critchfield and Johnston for over 65 years.   He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, scuba diving, carpentry, sailing, traveling, cooking and reading, especially history books.  He was a former president of the Northern Ohio Golf Association.

He is survived by his wife Diana Oviatt, whom he married February 8, 1980; sons Robert (Kathleen) Oviatt and Randall (Sherry) Oviatt both of Wooster along with five grandchildren.

Lincoln was preceded in death by his parents; his son Richard Oviatt and his sisters Ruth Hostetler and Naomi Hendricks.

In accordance with Lincoln’s wishes, services will be private.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  2. Mr O will be greatly missed and remembered as a friend I carried his and my father’s golf bags as partners and great friends much good advice and some great laughs gone but never forgotten RIP

  4. Rob and Randy. I was saddened also to hear of this news. My condolences. I was one of those guys that fought to caddy for him because of his kindness, humor, fairness and engaging personality. Good memories…but nothing compared to how many you must have.

  10. Line was a super person, very fortunate to have known him! I always learned something every time I spoke with him, very wise man. He will be playing golf again with Bud, Bobby and Dibble on the best course ever.
