In Loving Memory of Joan Marie Buehler (1929 – 2023)

Joan Buehler, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 at Danbury Assisted Living on Saturday, December 30, 2023.

A skilled seamstress and great cook, Joan delighted in sharing laughter and good times, whether knitting, preparing meals, or in the company of her extensive family. Joan found joy in the camaraderie of Bridge games and cherished the friendships formed over countless rounds.  Each winter, she and Gene enjoyed the sunshine of Naples, Florida and entertaining the many visiting family members.

Joan’s life was a testament to dedication, love, and the simple pleasures found in shared moments. She enjoyed her PEO sisterhood and time spent volunteering at Trinity United Church of Christ in Wooster.  She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Buehler, parents, A.N. and Lorraine Elmore of Findlay, Ohio, her brother, Gene Elmore of Pacific Grove, California, and three great-grandchildren: triplets Archie, Hugo and Rufus Buehler.

Joan is survived by her five children – Cindy (Jim) Webster, Linda (Rick) Lowe, Dan (Lynn) Buehler, Lori (Jim) Fishburn, and Scott (Mona) Buehler, 15 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank special friend, Shelby Roberts, Danbury Assisted Living, and Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare for their care and support of Joan. A private graveside service will be held with the family in attendance and a private memorial service for Joan will be planned at a later date.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., in Wooster is assisting the family.

  17. I am honored to know your mom, grandma and great grandma. She was always kind to my family when we lived on Linwood Drive. I fondly remember her giving snacks to my boys and Adam Lowe when they rode their bikes “patrolling” the neighborhood! And she gave my youngest son the softest blanket when he was born. He cherished it! My sincere condolences to the entire Buehler family. What a wonderful woman who will be missed. No matter how old someone is when they go to heaven it is still difficult to lose someone you love.

  19. Dearest Buehler Family~It is with great sadness that I read of the passing of Joan. I just enjoyed her sense of humor and company at all times, but especially when we were welcomed into her home in Naples……such a fun visit it was. I know how much Gene depended on her advice and missed her so much when she was away from him. She was the glue in the family to hold you all together. I am sure she will be greatly missed by all of you, and what a legacy she and Gene left behind. I have always felt like part of the “family” after all the years of working for, and with, so many Buehlers. My very deepest sympathy for the loss of this very special woman that you all had the pleasure of calling Mother/Grandmother.
