Elizabeth L. (Betty Lou) Balint

Betty Lou passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2024 surrounded by her beloved family.  She was born on February 16, 1939 to John and Elizabeth (Listiak) Kish in Youngstown, Ohio.  Betty Lou graduated from Chaney High School and Youngstown University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education.  She taught for several years at Washington Elementary School in Youngstown.  Betty Lou was also a Sunday School pianist and church organist at John Hus (later St. John) Lutheran Church in Youngstown.

Betty Lou married Rev. Edward P. Balint on October 17, 1962.  He survives.  She is also survived by her loving children David (Marilyn) Balint, Peter Balint, Kristen (Scott) Halpin all of Wooster and Edward (Traci) Balint of Akron.  Betty Lou adored her grandchildren Lauren Balint, Bradac Halpin, Elissa Halpin and Paige Balint.  She is also survived by a brother Jack Kish of Austintown and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

While raising their family Ed and Betty Lou made Wooster, Ohio their home in 1970.  Betty Lou assisted her husband in the ministry as a Sunday School teacher, pianist and small group leader.  She was a former member of East Union Lutheran Church.
