Esther Mae Franks, 89, of Wooster accepted Jesus’s hand of invitation on Thursday, April 4, 2024, under the wonderful care of Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare and the Divine Heath and Nursing Care Facility.

She was born November 12, 1934 to Sherman and Rachael Helmuth McAfee.  She attended school in Smithville, OH.  Esther married Maynard Franks on July 19, 1953.

She was active in church and bible studies, volunteered at Horn’s Nursing Home, was a member of TOPS and had worked at Buehler’s Milltown.

Esther is survived by her sister Ruth Raudabush of FL and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard, parents, brother Bradley and an infant brother.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 5:00 PM at Daybreak Community Church, 342 Nold Ave., Wooster with her great nephew, Rev. Richard Frazier officiating.  Private interment will be held in Reedsburg Cemetery.

The family will greet friends following the service at the church.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Daybreak Community Church, 342 Nold Ave., Wooster, OH 44691 or to the Wayne County Humane Society, 1161 Mechanicsburg Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

  1. I knew Esther for many years. Always a kind person and hard worker. Thoughts and prayers are with the family.
