James Michael “Mike” Bell, 63 of West Salem and formerly of Scottsboro, AL passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Wooster Community Hospital.

He was born October 17, 1960 in Scottsboro, AL to Pastor Howard and Mary Grace Jeffrey Bell.

Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1985-1987 where he was awarded multiple medals and ribbons of service and achieved expert qualifications in multiple weapon platforms.  Mike loved and cherished his family who lovingly remember him to be an inspirational family leader, strong Christian and outdoor enthusiast.  He never met a stranger and even in passing helped many others by participating in organ donation.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years Karen Boreman Bell; sons Alex (Christina) Bell of West Salem and Robert (Maddison) Bell of Burbank; grandchildren Silas, Benson, Grant, and Ava; sister-in-law Sabrina Bell of Meridian, MS along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ricky Gene Bell and Gregory Bell.

Friends will be received on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 10:15 AM at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville.  A procession will form at the funeral home at 9:00 AM.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Town and Country Fire District, P.O. Box 175, West Salem, OH 44287.

  4. Karen and family, we are so very sorry to hear of Mike’s passing and are sure that this will this will leave a void in your lives. But knowing what a Godly kind life life that he lived will live on in the memories and lives of his children and grandchildren. We are in Florida and will not be able to attend the services, but please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

As much as he went through, I always saw him with a smile. This and the family bond is a true testament to his strength and love for his family and life.
