On February 2, 1971, Ian Christian Neptune was born in Philadelphia, PA., moved to Wooster with his family in 1975, and on May 17, 2024, he passed away. Ian was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, whose loss came way too soon. No one was ready…He graduated from Wooster High School in 1989 where he excelled at soccer.

Ian was a very hard worker, had a very strong work ethic and took his role as a provider very seriously. He always strived to do his best. He worked in all aspects of lawn care his entire adult life. Ian loved his job at TRUGREEN as a “Business Development Representative,” and continuously set new sales records. His customers depended on him and when Ian said he would get a job done, it got done!!!

Ian had a love for all things sports memorabilia, especially the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes, all proudly displayed in his man cave, that he had just finished. He had a vintage train set and model airplanes. Ian loved his turntables and LP collection. And oh, how he enjoyed his TV shows, often reaching out, “Have you watched this yet?” or “This is a good one!”

He loved to grill and according to a family friend, “Your wings are the BEST I have ever tasted!!” He enjoyed fishing, preparing, and cooking his “catch.” Ian LOVED the beach, spending time there with his family when they could, especially Ocean Isle, N.C.

Ian is survived and will be greatly missed by the LOVE OF HIS LIFE, Nikki, and their children, Zachary (Gabby), Landon and Hazel. His parents Tom and Dee Neptune, and brothers Josh (Joy) and Thomas (Allison). His father-in-law and mother-in-law, Terry and Shirley Smith, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Mandy Smith. His nieces, Jordan (Ben), Makala (Cody), and Colette. His nephews, Garrett, Tommy, and Bennett.

We love and miss you, Ian….

  1. Nikki, Zac, Landon, Hazel and Dee… We are so sorry for your tremendous loss. Ian was a fun loving, adventurous, dependable, hard working family man. He loved his family with every bit of himself. Despite his medical issues, Ian was always welcoming with a story, a nifty collectible to show off or a quick witted comment just to get a laugh. He powered through the tough times and didnt accept sympathy. Ian will be greatly missed and never forgotten. We are blessed to have known him.

We are so sorry to hear of Ian’s passing. I remember when my son first met Ian and Josh when we all lived on Normandy. Over the years he mentioned to me whenever he had seen Ian and I brought back a flood of lovely memories. Jason enjoyed knowing him so much.

  36. I was saddened to read of the death of Ian. He was one of my Wooster High School English students MANY years ago. He always had a smile and a positive attitude even in tough times. As a mythology teacher, I was always glad to have a “Neptune” in our classes. Remember the smiles and the adventures….I am sure Ian provided both.
